Originally built in 1974 and having been subject to vandalism and wear and tear over the years, DPA were delighted to be able to renovate this old pavilion into a modern, multi-purpose building.
The pavilion is located in one of the most picturesque locations in Shropshire with views overlooking the Oswestry Hillfort. During the renovation, the building was stripped back to its original timber frame skeleton which was structurally sound.
The pavilion was then rebuilt around the existing timber frame utilising modern insulated materials with red cedar timber cladding externally. Panels of render introduced together with bi-fold doors to provide the pavilion with open views onto the cricket/sports pitch and giving the structure a contemporary stamp.
The internal room arrangements were reconfigured slightly to create a larger communal area and additional facilities for disabled users. The changing facilities were increased by the infill of the covered porch.
The project would not have been able to be completed without the generous funding from Oswestry Borough council together with funding from WREN.
