In 2017 DPA were asked to guide our clients through the whole planning, design and build process for their countryside barn conversion project.
The clients proposed the partial demolition of existing barns, an erection of two-storey replacement extension to include two balconies and modification of roof arrangements together with internal alterations.
So began extensive conversations and communication with clients, the local planning authority and other contractors. The end result was a total renovation of the existing farmhouse and demolition of the stone barn. A contemporary open plan extension was erected with a curved roof utilising beautiful local stone. The extension featured glazed elevations to maximise views and vistas of the Shropshire plains.
The dwelling was built to a very high thermal standard using modern technology and thermal insulation.
