The Village Bakery started life when the Edwards brothers began producing bread and confectionery in a small bakery in Park Road, Coedpoeth, Wales. It was taken over in 1966 by Alan Jones the current chairman and is now run by Robin and Christien Jones, Alan’s sons. Since then, the little bakery has gone from strength to strength, employing over 160 staff and opening their Innovation Centre and Baking Academy in 2015, also designed by DPA .

Because of the need to expand, Village Bakery bought the former Caparo Wire site and a planning application to extend and re-clad the existing building was granted in 2018. The completed development will house state of the art baking equipment producing gluten free and dairy free foods along with office accommodation and changing facilities.

The  development is located within Wrexham Industrial Estate which has a variety of building styles, scale and design. The new bakery will be a modern addition to the traditional feel of the estate, enhancing the character and aesthetics of the area. DPA are delighted to be involved in this exciting project and the team are looking forward to seeing the end result.
