In 2014 DPA was commissioned to carry out a renovation project to a beautiful Georgian townhouse in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. The brief was to design a sun room to the rear of the property and to extensively renovate the property internally to provide a product that is thermally efficient and pleasing to live in. Our client bought the property with a view to sell the house on completion of the works.
Being in a conservation area, the client wanted to retain the Georgian part of the house as the prominent feature, as this would be in keeping with the street scene.
DPA designed a sunroom space that allowed natural lighting into the property without compromising the existing spaces by introducing a roof lantern and large areas of glazing.
An impressive sunroom was constructed and the ground floor extended to provide a cosy space incorporating an inglenook fireplace.
Alterations were made to the first and second floor to maximise space within each bedroom. This was achieved by removing the 5th bedroom and creating four good sized bedrooms one of which contained an en-suite.
The end product was a unique, beautifully proportioned and presented property that was sold successfully and is now occupied by the present owners, who are delighted with their much loved family home.
