In 2011 DPA were given the opportunity to extend and renovate this substantial period property.
Thornhill is a Victorian townhouse situated on Morda Road in Oswestry. It served as a family home and the clients wanted to improve it by creating an annexe to the side of the property and significantly improving the living space downstairs in the original home.
DPA transformed the client’s typically Victorian dark galley kitchen into a stunning bright and airy space for open plan living, cooking and entertaining. To maximise space and design opportunity, the flat roof of the kitchen was made into an upstairs balcony that comes off the main bedroom. It is a beautiful example of how modern designs can be married with old period houses. The annexe was sympathetically designed so that the building was integrated with the original home. Sash windows and a classic finial added to the building’s authenticity. An internal door also allows the client to have easy access into the annexe if needed.
